Background: |
GlgP/GlgP2 is a glycogen phosphorylase (EC 2.4.1.1) that catalyzes the cleavage of glycogen into glucose-1-phosphate. It is a key factor in glycogen metabolism when CO₂ fixation and glucose supply are limited, essential for glycogen degradation during darkness and recovery from nitrogen starvation, and required for PHB synthesis under nitrogen starvation. It localizes to the cytoplasm. |
